Public procurement in the UK and the rest of the European Union is governed by a number of Directives and Regulations which are then implemented in national legislation.

Utility Contracts Directive 2004/17/EC Procedures of entities operating in the water, energy, transport and postal services sectors. Standard Forms - Regulation 1564/2005 Establishing standard forms for the publication of notices in the framework of public procurement procedures pursuant to Directives 2004/17/EC and 2004/18/EC.	Implemented in Statutory Instruments 2006/5, 2006/6 and Scottish Statutory Instruments 2006/1, 2006/2 listed above.
Public Contracts - Remedies Directive 89/665/EEC Coordination of the laws, regulations and administrative provisions relating to the application of review procedures to the award of public supply and public works contracts.	Implemented in Statutory Instrument 2006/5 and Scottish Statutory Instrument 2006/1 listed above.
Utility Contracts - Remedies Directive 92/13/EEC Coordinating the laws, regulations and administrative provisions relating to the application of Community rules on the procurement procedures of entities operating in the water, energy, transport and telecommunications sectors.	Implemented in Statutory Instruments 2006/6 and Scottish Statutory Instrument 2006/2 listed above.
Directive 2007/66/EC Remedies Directive Amends the existing Remedies Directives (89/665/EEC and 92/13/EEC) to improve the effectiveness of review procedures concerning the award of public contracts.	Not yet implemented in the UK regulations.
Threshold Amendments - Regulation 21422/2007 Amending Directives 2004/17/EC and 2004/18/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council in respect of their application thresholds for the procedures for the award of contracts.
